The Scottsdale auctions are such a magical time of the year. Some of the worlds greatest cars are going to be on the auction block in a matter of a week. Here are some of the cars I am most excited for:
2016 Shelby GT350
1968 Plymouth Hemi Road Runner
1936 Cord 810 Phaeton
5039/5040 2000 Cadillac Northstar LMP Race Car
1935 Duesenberg SJ Dual Cowl Phaeton
1965 Bizzarrini P538 Spyder Barchetta
I could go one. What lot are you looking forward to watch? Or maybe buy if you plan on going.

I'm planning on watching this Barrett-Jackson simply because Mister Big Money himself, Ron Pratte, is selling off his collection at this auction. Among the 140 cars and 1500 pieces of automobilia he's bringing to the auction is:
The only remaining 1966 Shelby Cobra Super Snake, bought at Barrett-Jackson in 2007 for $5.5 million.
A 1954 Pontiac Bonneville Special Motorama concept car, one of two designed by GM styling-icon Harley Earl, which Pratte purchased for $3 million in Scottsdale in 2006.
A 1950 GM Futurliner bus, one of 12 made. The proceeds will benefit the Armed Forces Foundation, a non-profit supporting active-duty military and personnel, military families and veterans. Pratte purchased it at Barrett-Jackson for $4.3 million.
A 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Chevelle two-door hardtop, one of 22 in existence and the only one known to exist with a column shift.
A 1929 Indian 401 motorcycle, which was restored to as-new condition.
A 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302, with its original engine, transmission and rear end.

I never saw the appeal for the Futurliner. I am very much looking forward to see the price of that Super Snake skyrocket. Pratt brought some wonderful cars to this years auction!

The Futurliner is just cool.
Imagine you're living in a small or medium-sized town in 1950. Suddenly, 5 of those come rolling through town at set up at the town square or the fairgrounds. Your mind would be blown.

Everything is too expensive for me. But in February I'm going to Rétromobile where the amazing Artcurial auction is going to be held. There will be plenty of weird French classics for sale. Maybe I could even afford one.

I can get behind the fact that the bus is very cool, the styling is crazy and wonderful. I am not sure it was 4.3 million dollars cool but alas I didn't buy it so I shouldn't worry about it.

I went to the auction once. The first day is usually full of great cheap drivers. Where is Retromobile? And I wish you the best of luck while you are there!

Until such time that I can afford to buy anything sold at Barrett Jackson, I shall not be excited about Barrett Jackson.

I saw the preview show on Velocity yesterday and it piqued my interest in this Pratte guy. Aside from the amazing collection of cars, I was trying to wrap my brain around being able to bid millions of dollars on a single item and just sit there like it was all for fun. I'm sure I'll never experience that, but it blew me away to imagine having the luxury to make those kinds of decisions.

He owns the biggest construction company in Arizona. He needs to do something with his money.

Where in Arizona? I used to live outside of Phoenix and I don't think I ever heard mention of this guy, but I'm sure I have seen signs for his construction business somewhere.

Pratte Development Co. and Pratte Building Systems.
He has built his fortune as the founder and former Chief Executive Officer of the Pratte Development Company, Inc. It is one of the biggest wood framing and concrete foundation companies in the United States. It is a privately held company located in Phoenix, Arizona which manufactures structural wood products. He sold his development company to Pulte homes at the peak of the housing boom in Arizona.

Rétromobile is in Paris. Now I just have to find a way to get a project car transported if I get lucky. Buying a car transporter is one solution.
This Peugeot J7 would be only €900 (Bobcat isn't included)...

Best part is you could sell it once you bought the car you want.

Yeah. It shouldn't be really hard to sell.
